1946

The founding year

Hermann Meyer, a trained electrician, opens a factory for electrical household appliances in his home town Hemer-Ihmert. Hard work and ingenuity are crucial for success during these early years.

1940s

High quality demands

During the time of the “economic miracle” there is growing demand for electrical appliances which make everyday life more convenient. The products meet great popularity and quality expectations are already high.

1950s

Velux

The first luminaires are developed and manufactured. Velux task lights with a magnate base are flexible, well-engineered and -designed.

1952

Hannover industrial fair

For the first time Meyer takes part at the industrial fair in Hannover as an exhibitor. The stand is still modest but the products receive a lot of interest from domestic and international customers.

1960s

Universal luminaires

Construction is booming and good illumination on site is in high demand. The robust Universal luminaires from Meyer are reliable companions for many craftsmen in the building industry.

1970s

Halogen floodlights

The demand for functional luminaires of high quality is growing. Construction sites and industrial plants have to be illuminated brightly and safely. Often halogen floodlights from Meyer are chosen for this task.

1980s

Superlight Compact

Light does not only need to be useful but should also reveal beautiful things. The versatile Superlight Compact floodlights with small dimensions are used on buildings around the world. They become benchmark products in terms of functionality and design.

1990s

New applications

Meyer has gained an excellent reputation as a specialist manufacturer of floodlights. Our competence in designing and manufacturing technical luminaires is used for new fields of application.

Inground luminaires with shallow recess depth and elegant area floodlights are launched.

For future LED versions a HeatSlide mechanism is developed which ensures optimal heat dissipation over the complete tilt range.

2000

Light+Building

After participating at the Hannover industrial fair continually for almost 50 years, Meyer takes part at Light + Building exhibition in Frankfurt since 2000. The modern and timeless stand is a launch pad for new products where our luminaires can be experienced in form and function.

2006

Form follows function

Form follows function, with this motto new luminaires with exemplary design are developed. Nightspot is available as a floodlight or gobo projector for sharp-edged image projections – an innovation in exterior lighting.

2008

A new era in illumination

After 2000 a new era for illumination begins. LED technology offers unprecedented possibilities for the design of luminaires. Superlight Micro is the first LED floodlight from Meyer and with its compact dimensions it becomes an immediate success.

2011

Superlight Nano

LED technology makes fast progress, especially with regards to efficiency and reliability. Meyer develops more compact luminaires with precise optics that can be used discretely in architecture. Superlight Nano is the latest and smallest floodlight with integral driver.

2014

Innovation in lighting technology

Arclux is an innovation in lighting technology: Precise reflectors direct light from 2 LEDs indirectly onto a window frame which is illuminated with perfect uniformity. Windows thus become a focal point for lighting design.

2018

Groundbreaking engineering and design

Meyer leads the way in technology and design. This expectation is met with the introduction of Monospot. The floodlights combine unique design and precise optics with perfect glare control.

2020

The Future

The latest products that we have launched are timeless luminaires with innovative technology. In the future, Meyer will continue to develop perfect exterior luminaires with exemplary design.
